Happy 2009 + Teresa (Portraits)

  /   My Life, Portraits

First off, Happy New Year to all!

I am excited about 2009 – for the first time in a while I feel like really making some changes and improving my health and life and photography this year. I’m not going to detail it all out here for fear of jinxing it or something but still – I feel good about a new year and a fresh start and outlook on life. May your 2009 be the best year yet and filled with happiness….!

Now..on to the portraits…

My best friend. My sister. My source of constant chatter about the latest make up, hair gels, sprays, shampoos, hair dryers, straightners, sweaters, starbux lattes, blondies cookies, walmart, ihop, and a trillion other seamingly mindless yet crucial things. I’ve known this girl for over a decade, and she has been my constant companion in all the highs and lows of life. Any girl knows the value of your best girlfriends and simultaneously, you can’t put a value on that because it is priceless – as is Teresa. She is so beautiful. Her smile radiates love and life. She is the life of any party and the exotic, down-home girl with a ghetto fab urban flavor. I can write for hours on her amazing qualities and hilarious analogies. She is truly a part of my family and in fact spent many a sunday morning at my house hanging out with my family before I was even awake – bringing in our sunday newspaper and chowing down on my mom’s delicious cooking.

We have spent so many hours on the phone since freshman year of high school – talking about how to best make our hair pin straight, the latest eyeshadow colors that may or may not suite our darker skin, taking long drives in the cornfields of Indiana as well as the big city lights in Chicago, talking about our families and the struggles that we all faced as part of an immigrant family. I have never been as close to someone outside my family for so long, and Teresa may not know this – but I look up to her. She can always bring people together, console someone when they are down no matter what she has going on in life, and she has an undying spirit and glitter in her eye that shines through no matter what life deals her.

T – I love you! Here are some photos of her that I snapped while at home for the holidays.

I saw NY from above earlier today while going from Paris to LA with a stop in Newark. The snow and sunshine are gorgeous, and you’ve used both so well in these images. The touch of lighting across the entire image is beautiful!
