Ratna + Rohini Aunty | Portraits

  /   Portraits

Ratna is my twin sister. Well, not really but the whole world seems to think so that sometimes I believe it myself. We are both tall, have very expressive faces, love to dance like no one is watching, and make all kinds of funny faces and random actions. We are known as a crazy duo – She’s like my other half and we have increased each others’ life span by at least 20 years with the amount of laughing we do.

Ratna asked me to a mother-daughter session for her and her mom, Rohini Aunty. (Just a little tid bit – in Indian culture, we call all of our elders as “aunty” or “uncle” whether or not we are related, this is a show of respect). Ratna grew up in Indonesia and her parents still live there and Aunty was visiting here for a few weeks. So, we walked around the UES and through Central Park to take some casual photos of my best friend and her loving mom. I hope you all like them:

Tara, thanks for taking such wonderful photos of my mom and I. We’ve never done any proper family shots before so these are very precious. My mom had a great time in the city and these photos will always remind us of that. Thanks again!
